The pole sitting at the top of the Cortical gradient of cortical organization, while unimodal sensory areas sit at the lower end
Linked to abstract semantic processing, longer temporal windows of information processing, & detached from sensory input. Appears later in primate cortical expansion and development (Sydnor2021, Huntenburg2018)
