Magnetization Prepared 2 Rapid Acquisition Gradient Echoes $T_{1}$ mapping

Uses numerical dictionary (database of pre-calculated signal values simulated for wide range of tissue & protocol combinations) during image reconstruction
Hybrid between inversion recovery and VFA pulse sequences
- 180 inversion pulse is used to prepare magnetization for $T_{1}$ sensitivity at beginning of each TRMP2RAGE
- Two images acquired at different inversino times using gradient recalled echo (GRE) imaging blocks with low flip angles and short repetition times (TR).

Dominant sequence for 3D-T1 weighted imaging

Non-selective (180 degree) inversion pulse followed by collection of rapidly acquired gradient echoes obtained at short TEs (2-4ms) and small flip angles $a$ (5-12 degrees)

Combining the images of mp2rage output (uniform, inv1, inv2) is used to denoise the image for Skullstripping
