Network-based statistic

Measure used to investigate statistical significance (Hypothesis testing) in Graph Theory, as implemented by Zalesky2010.

non-parametric statistical test designed to control Family-wise error rate due to multiple comparisons for application to graph data.

Statistical significance of connected components of the graph that survive a priori statistical threshold (F-test; intensity value 10) is estimated by comparing topological extension against a null distribution of the size of connected components obtained from non-parametric permutation testing.

Advantages

  • Rejects the null hypothesis on a component-basis, therefore achieving superior power compared to mass-univariate approaches (Zalesky2010)
