Besides typical routes for stimulants as oral ingestion, nasal insufflation & inhalation/smoking, “bath salts” were increasingly injected intravenously or intramuscularly.

The relatively high lipophilicity of MDPV compared to other cathinone derivatives contributes to its fast distribution and high permeability of the blood-brain barrier that was shown in vitro. Moreover, an active transport behavior across the blood-brain barrier was postulated.
